Privacy Policy

This policy covers GeoSlice (geoslice.net) and reflects the site as it actually works today. If anything here isn't clear, get in touch.

Playing as a guest

You can play GeoSlice fully without an account. As a guest, your scores, streak, and personal history are stored locally in your own browser, not on our servers tied to your identity. An anonymous, non-identifying version of your daily score is sent to our database so it can count toward that day's overall spread of scores, nothing about a guest score is linked to you personally.

If you later create an account on the same browser, your guest scores for days you haven't already played on that account are automatically carried across, so your history doesn't just disappear. This only works on the same device/browser you played as a guest on, it can't retroactively pull in guest play from a different device.

What we collect if you create an account

• Email address, used for sign-in and account-related communication.
• Username, if you choose to set one, shown publicly on the leaderboard.
• Game data: your scores, streaks, XP, and completed puzzles, so your stats and history can follow you across devices.
• Subscription status, if you purchase Premium: whether you're on Monthly or Lifetime access, and billing dates. Actual payment details (card numbers etc) are handled entirely by Stripe, our payment processor, we never see or store them ourselves.

Accounts and authentication

Account sign-in is handled by Supabase, our backend and authentication provider. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your email and basic profile information with us for that purpose, in line with Google's own sign-in permissions, which you approve at the time.

Payments

Premium subscriptions (Monthly or Lifetime) are processed by Stripe. When you check out, you're providing your payment details directly to Stripe, not to GeoSlice. We receive confirmation that a payment succeeded and basic subscription status (active, cancelled, plan type), never your full card details. Stripe's own privacy practices apply to the payment information you give them.

Service providers we use

• Cloudflare: hosting and content delivery for the site itself.
• Supabase: accounts, authentication, and game data storage.
• Stripe: payment processing for Premium subscriptions.
• Google Analytics: traffic and usage analytics (see below).

Each of these providers has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data on our behalf.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand overall traffic and how the site is used, things like page views, general location (country/region level, not precise), device type, and which pages are visited. This data is aggregated and used to improve the site; it isn't used to identify you individually. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by using a browser/extension that blocks analytics scripts.

Advertising

GeoSlice does not run any advertising. If that changes in the future, this policy will be updated first, and any ad network in use will be named here along with what data it collects.

Cookies and local storage

GeoSlice uses browser local storage to keep guests' stats and preferences on their own device, and to keep signed-in users logged in between visits. We don't use tracking cookies for advertising, and we don't run any third-party ad networks.

What we don't do

We don't sell your data to anyone, for any reason. We don't share your personal information with third parties except where it's genuinely necessary to run the service (the providers listed above), or where required by law.

Your data, your choices

You can change your username or password any time from your account page. You can permanently delete your account, and all associated data, at any time from your account page as well, this cancels any active Monthly subscription immediately as part of the same action. Deletion can't be undone.

Children's privacy

GeoSlice is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please get in touch and we'll remove it.

If you're in the EU, UK, or a similar jurisdiction

Depending on where you're located, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. Account deletion is available directly from your account page for the "delete" side of that. For anything else, or if you have any question about what we hold, contact us and we'll respond.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
