About GeoSlice

A daily geography splitting game

What is GeoSlice?

GeoSlice drops you somewhere real on Earth, anywhere from a cluster of US states to a scatter of Pacific islands, and asks you to split it as evenly as possible, using the real data underneath.

It's built on population, and not just a list of city names either. It's a real gridded population dataset, so the rural population between towns genuinely counts too, not just whoever happens to live somewhere with a name on a map.

Three modes: drag a single line to split an area in half, a centre point with three spokes to split it three ways, or two locked-perpendicular lines to split it four ways. Each mode has 3 rounds a day, on 3 different places, scored and ranked separately.

Why build this?

I'd already built a flag-guessing game (Flagpie) and wanted to try something completely different, genuinely interactive, not just another "guess the place" format. The idea that stuck was turning the map itself into something you drag and reshape, and scoring it against real geographic data rather than a made-up answer key.

It's still actively being built and tuned. The scoring, the regions it picks, the modes on offer, all of it has changed a fair bit already based on actually playing it, and it'll keep changing. If something feels off, there's a good chance it's already on the list.

About the creator

Hey, I'm Tom, GeoTom on socials. I've always had a genuine love for geography, maps, and travel, and in May 2026 I started an account built entirely around that: geography puzzles, quizzes, anything to do with maps and flags.

Flagpie came first, in June 2026. GeoSlice followed not long after, out of wanting to build something map-based that actually used real geographic data as the core mechanic, rather than just another rectangle-guessing game.

I'm a one-person team, so this is still a small, growing project and I'm building it in the open, adjusting as I go based on real feedback. If you've got ideas, spot something broken, or just want to say hi, the contact page has a few ways to reach me.

Thanks for playing!
Tom
